Getting started

How long does it take to get online?

Hosting and email are provisioned within minutes of ordering. Website builds go live within 14 working days of us receiving your completed brief — the clock starts when the brief arrives, so the sooner it's done, the sooner you launch.

Is migration really free?

Yes. Every hosting and email plan includes free migration: you share one login through a secure ticket, we move your website, databases and every mailbox, verify the counts match, and schedule the switchover so nothing goes offline. Your old host stays untouched until you've confirmed everything works.

What does the £1 first month mean?

Every monthly hosting plan costs £1 for the first month — new customers, once per customer. From month two you pay the standard price, which is then held for 3 years.

Pricing & billing

What is the 3-year price hold?

The plan price you join at is held for 36 months from signup on hosting and email plans — written into clause 15.2 of our terms. The industry's cheap-year-one, painful-year-two model is exactly what we built UKBox against.

Do prices include VAT?

Yes — every price shown on this site includes VAT unless explicitly stated otherwise. What you see is what your card is charged.

Why is my first invoice a slightly odd amount?

Monthly services align to the 1st of the month: your first invoice includes a pro-rated portion covering the remainder of the current month, and everything after that falls neatly on the 1st.

Are there contracts?

Hosting, email and business phone are rolling monthly — cancel any time from your client area. Web design carries a 12-month minimum (we build your site before most of it is paid for); SEO plans carry a 3-month minimum. Those are the only two, and both are stated before you buy.

Ownership & leaving

Can I move away later?

Always. Domains are registered in your name and transfers out are free and never withheld. Websites we build are yours from day one, with a complete export on request. We keep customers by being good, not by locking doors.

Who owns the website you build for me?

You do — from day one, including the design copyright once your setup fee is paid. It's in clause 10.3.

Services

Do you guarantee Google rankings?

No — nobody honest can, and Google itself warns against anyone who promises them. We guarantee the work in your plan, done monthly and reported in plain English. Local results typically start moving in 2–3 months.

What's included with web design monthly fees?

UK hosting, SSL, WordPress and plugin updates, daily backups, security monitoring, and your plan's monthly content-edit allowance. New pages, redesigns and new features are quoted before any work begins — no surprise invoices.

How does the business phone service work?

You choose a UK number; we divert it to the mobile you already own. Callers hear a professional landline; you answer on your existing phone. £11.99 a month including VAT, no minimum term.

Support & security

When can I reach a human?

365 days a year, 8am–5pm UK time, by ticket, email or 0330 088 2279 — typical replies in around ten minutes during staffed hours, and emergencies affecting service availability are worked outside those hours.

Where is my data held?

On our own UK infrastructure in Coventry and Maidenhead, under UK jurisdiction, with daily backups and SSL everywhere. Full detail in our privacy policy.

Do you keep backups?

Daily encrypted backups as standard — and we still recommend keeping your own copies of critical data, because no backup you don't control should ever be your only one. Ours have restored many a deleted-it-by-accident morning.
