Our nameservers

To point a domain registered elsewhere at your UKBox hosting, set its nameservers to:

At your current registrar, look for Nameservers, DNS management or Change nameservers, replace whatever is listed with the two above, and save. Changes usually take effect within a few hours and always within 48 — your site and email keep working from the old settings until the change completes.

The IPS tag — for .uk domains

.uk domains (.co.uk, .uk, .org.uk and friends) don't use transfer codes. Instead, Nominet — the .uk registry — uses an IPS tag: a short label saying which company manages the domain. To move a .uk domain to UKBox, ask your current provider to change its IPS tag to:

1. Contact your current provider (or use their control panel) and request the IPS tag change to the tag above — providers must action this promptly under Nominet's rules.
2. Start the transfer from our domain transfer page so it lands in your UKBox account.
3. The move completes within minutes to hours of the tag changing — with no downtime. .uk transfers are free and don't change your renewal date.

Other domains (.com, .net and most others)

These transfer with an authorisation code (sometimes called an EPP code) from your current registrar: unlock the domain, switch off any domain privacy, request the code, then enter it on our transfer page. Rather not touch DNS at all?

Fair enough — most people wouldn't choose to. If you're moving your hosting to us, our free migration handles the whole thing, DNS included, with nothing going offline.
