Adding another website or domain to your hosting (addon domains) Print

  • 0

Business and Pro plans host more than one website (3 and 10 respectively); Starter is for one. Each extra site is an addon domain in cPanel — for all practical purposes its own website, with its own folder, email accounts, database and SSL certificate.

  1. Point the new domain at us first: at the domain's registrar, set the nameservers to ns1.ukbox.host and ns2.ukbox.host. (For security, cPanel will only accept a domain whose nameservers already point at our platform — this stops anyone adding a domain they don't own.)
  2. In cPanel open Domains → Create a New Domain, enter the domain and choose its folder (the default is fine).
  3. Give it up to a few hours for DNS to settle. SSL is issued automatically once it resolves.

You'll notice cPanel also creates a subdomain like newdomain.co.uk.yourmaindomain.co.uk. That's just how cPanel wires an addon internally — visitors never see it and it doesn't affect the site.

Rather we did it? Open a ticket with the domain name and we'll set it up. If you've hit your plan's website limit, upgrading is a couple of clicks in the client area and pro-rated.
