Installing WordPress Print

WordPress installs from cPanel in a couple of minutes; you don't need to download anything.

  1. Open cPanel and find the installer: Softaculous (under Software) or WordPress Management (under Domains) — whichever your cPanel shows. Both work the same way.
  2. Click Install, choose the domain (leave the directory blank so the site is at the root), and set the site title.
  3. Choose an admin username that isn't "admin", and a long generated password. Enter the email address you want notifications sent to.
  4. Install. When it finishes you'll get the link to your dashboard — https://yourdomain.co.uk/wp-admin.

First things to do once you're in: install the free LiteSpeed Cache plugin (our servers run LiteSpeed, so it makes a real difference), delete the sample content and any plugins you didn't choose, and set a strong password for every user. SSL is already in place, so make sure Settings → General shows both URLs starting with https://.

Migrating an existing WordPress site rather than starting fresh? Don't install anything — open a ticket and we'll move it for you, free, with nothing lost.
